At 20 years old, it seems that your life should be carefree, everything is possible and you have all the time in the world. Suddenly, what started out as a great day to spend time with your friends becomes a nightmare that you can't wrap your mind around. Your life and the lives of your family have been changed forever. Decisions have been thrust upon you that you never imagined you would have to make at your age.

This is what happened to me and it altered the path of my life forever. I wrote this book with my good friend, Sylvia Sims, because I knew that, without warning, many people have horrendous things happen to them in their lives which will make them feel alone, disenfranchised and forced to continue their lives on very different terms. The choices they thought they had are now suddenly very different. In sharing my experiences I hope they will understand they are not alone.

Today in the United States there are many people living with disabilities and as our population ages that number will certainly increase. Through this book, Broken Wing, I wanted to spread the word that when faced with physical disability, it is imperative to find some way to keep yourself as healthy as you can: in mind, body and spirit. Martial arts did just that for me, keeping me focused, strong and moving forward. It gave me the ability to face challenges that have since come my way.

Broken Wing, published by Mystic Wolf Press was released in December, 2007.
